Last Friday night, Back to Democracy hosted a discussion of the New York State Marches for Peace walk to Fort Drum at the Trumansburg Firehall. I am posting the video I edited for that event. The video starts with the arrival of the peace walkers at the Yoga center in Adams Center who respond to the news that the base commander General Oates’ was welcoming the marchers to the base and letting soldiers know that they were free to participate out of uniform. It concludes with veterans from four wars approaching acting base commander Col. Riddle in the middle of the Armed Forces Day parade. They ask for a meeting over mental health issues. In between we see several young people who joined the march in Adams, a cadence by Veterans for Peace, a pair of skateboarders who follow the walkers and comment, a Raging Grannie and the welcoming at the Different Drummer Cafe, and IVAW member Brian Cassler speaking about his speaking up to brass regarding redeployment and threats to have his his honorable discharge and benefits retroactively revoked.
Sean Sessler of Rochester Indymedia, also contributed footage. Hopefully, you all will soon be able to see the fruits of the larger Indymedia collaboration, which involved four principle camera people on the march.
